I Got a Summer Job

Of course it is not the most awesome job ever and I am not really sure what the child protective services would think, although I am already six foot three inches tall and over two hundred pounds, so I am not really a child even though the child labor laws still apply to me. I have been working with a guy who works for a Queens tree service, but he was not on the clock when he was working with me. Instead he would do the same stuff off of the clock. My job is mostly to stay out of the way and not get killed by heavy chunks of wood falling out of a tree. That is obviously not a thing that you would want to happen, but also when you have a nice yard you do not want a big chunk of wood to fall upon and make a big divot. So part of my job is to pile up the brush and try to make a soft landing for the wood before it falls.

At any rate this is the same sort of thing, except that I am doing it full time. The boss is not thrilled that I am only 17 years old, but he says that he was even younger when he started to work. I am sure that when he was my age there was a lot less regulation and probably lots more kids with permanent limps and that sort of thing. At any rate my job is not really all that important and I only use a chainsaw to cut things that are not subject to the laws of gravity in any calamitous way. The guys who climb the trees probably make a lot more money than me and they can have it.
